Aloo posto Reciepe ( Step by Step)
Few years back, The Recipe of Aloo posto was shared by my mother, I had noted down the method.
From then onwards, Once in a while I do make Aloo Posto.
This is completely a veg recipe. We don't use onion or garlic In it. But if you want, you can add onion.
Apart from potatoes, there are three essential ingredients - kalonji ( Nigella seeds), Mustered oil and poppy seeds ( posto)
Cooking time 30 minutes
Ingredients :
Mustered oil
Kaalo jeera
Dried red chilli
Potato
Posto
Green chili
Salt
Sugar
Method :
1 . Add poppy seeds to grinder jar, grind it. Then add some water. Again grind to a coarse paste. Set aside.
2. Peel and cut the potatoes in cubes.
3. Temper mustered oil In a pan. Once smoking lightly, add Kaalo jeera.
4. After some time, add the potatoes. Fry for 5 minutes. Add some water and boil it.
5. Add posto paste along with salt and sugar. Cook on low heat until the raw smell of posto goes away.
6. Ensure the potatoes don't stick to the pans.
7. Finish with 2 slit green chillis and 1 spoon of mustard oil.
Give a final stir.
Serve it with hot rice and dal ( plain Mosur dal / kacha plain moong dal)
Bhaat and posto are a match, don't have it with chaapatis or Roti.
