| MANN KASTURI RE ------ ALL THAT WILLBE LEFT UNSAID |
Mann kasturi re jag dasturi re
Baat hui na poori re…
The first time I had clicked to play the trailer of Masaan online, I had great expectations from it. I have long admired Varun Grover’s candid, poetic writing style and he is both the writer and lyricist of Masaan.
Panchi kahe kis gagan udu mein
Behtar jo is daal…
Allah mere chidibaaz ne
Aisa pheka jaal…
Masaan stayed with me. There are young men in Masaan whom I would have judged and written off in real life. Here I feel their pain. There are women in this film that I have known all my life but never quite seen in the movies before. Women who read and quote poetry, who watch porn and are aware of their own desire. Women who don’t cry. Women who know what they want and are spontaneous in their reactions. Women who take decisions. Intelligent women.
Our past is the bubble that extends it's radius to our present. Days and Nights are inseparable hues of dawn and dusk. Steam, ice and water are simply different forms of the same matter - a puppet of permutation temperatures and pressures. Like every such fusion in the universe, Life and death culminate together in the ashes.
In minuscule, it leaves you with more. It doesn't separate the different oddities of life, Infact it juxtaposes each one of them. In all it's dictums, where you search for answers. The song leaves you with innumerable questions. Just like the wandering deer unaware of the aroma within, the human being gallops in the quest of closure, the enigma of which, lies within.
