LATA MANGESHKER-- SOME UNKNOWN FACTS

 1 . Lata was not born as ‘Lata,’ she was named ‘Hema Deenanath Mangeshwar’ at birth. Later, her father changed her name to match ‘Latika,’ a character in one of his plays.

 Her beautiful voice would have found a way to reach the world, whether she was Lata or Hema because of her considerable talent and commitment to music.

 We often wish we had different names or families, but if we work hard and have patience, our efforts will pay off eventually, just as Lata’s did!

2 . Lata Mangeshkar began her career as an actor, but she hated ‘laughing and crying’ in front of the camera. But she never lost sight of her dream to sing playback in movies, which she eventually did, to great success.

 Sometimes we feel as though we’ll never get to do what we want, but if we keep an eye on our goals, no matter how distant they seem, we are already moving towards reaching our dreams.

3 . Lata’s first song in Marathi was dropped, and later another song she sang was considered unsuitable. However, her persistent efforts, the mentorship of Ghulam Haider, and her consistent hard work made her forge ahead in her career.

 Today, we cannot imagine anyone rejecting a voice blessed by angels like Lata’s! 

Lata’s journey tells us that initial rejections and stumbling blocks should be treated like stepping stones to achieving our goals!

4 . Lata Mangeshkar was very fond of her labrador ‘Bittu’ and often posted about him on social media. 

No one is alone with a pet by their side!
